Memories - One shot

‘Let’s go to Lucknow!’ said Aarav at the dining table. Everybody looked up startled. ‘What, exclaimed Arnav. ‘Yes Dad. I’ve just 15 days holidays left before my school reopens. Nani keeps talking about Lucknow, why don’t we make a visit?’ Khushi and Arnav looked at each other. Khushi noticed some uneasiness in Arnav’s eyes.
Things had settled down for a while. Babuji had recovered, he was now able to speak and walk for short distances with the help of a stick. He was able to expose all of Shyam’s untold evils which resulted in Shyam getting life imprisonment. Amma, Babuji and Buaji returned back to their home in Lucknow. Anjali Di was happily married to her second husband who was a reputed businessman in London. Arnav had made sure to carry out all inquiries about him before the marriage. Though he missed his Di very much, Arnav was satisfied that his Di was finally with a good man. Akash’s project in the US was a success and Akash and Payal were returning back next month. NK had gone back to Sydney to assist his father in business.
All of Arnav’s problems seemed to have been sorted out. But, when Aarav suggested Lucknow, he had an unsettling feeling. With Aarav insisting on making the visit, and Nani too supporting him, Arnav had to give in. Aarav became excited and hugged his Dad, but Arnav felt a certain fear lingering in his heart.
After arriving in Lucknow, the Raizada family made its way into Gomti Sadan, the Gupta home in Lucknow. Arnav and Khushi had not been to the town since the release of the video tapes to the media. So, it was a weird feeling for both of them. After the initial hospitalities by the Gupta family, the Raizadas proceeded towards Sheesh Mahal. Sheesh Mahal was under the care of a trustee for its maintenance. As soon as they neared it, Aarav couldn’t believe his eyes at the sight of the huge palatial house. He along with Nani and Khushi made a tour of the bungalow with the help of a guide. Arnav wandered about stealthily until they came back. He was lost in his memories when he heard the happy voices of his family. ‘Dad, this is so big. Is this really ours?’ exclaimed Aarav. Arnav nodded amused at the little boy’s wonder. In the evening, as they made their way back to Gomti Sadan, Arnav had a slight smile on his face and the fear in his eyes was nowhere to be seen.
After dinner, when Aarav was put to sleep, Arnav asked Khushi to come outside. When she came out, she saw Arnav sitting on her old scooter with her helmet on. The sight made her laugh out so loudly, annoying Mr. ASR a bit. ‘What’s so funny? I want to show you something. So, just come and sit.’ Khushi, knowing her husband quite well by now, decided to not say anything and sat down on the pillion behind Arnav. As they neared their destination, Khushi realised that they were going to Sheesh Mahal. It was decorated with colourful lights, just as it was on the day of their first meeting. Arnav got down from the scooter, lifted his wife in his arms and carried her inside. ‘Arnavji, what are you doing? Put me down.’ said a flustered Khushi. ‘Sshhh” was the reply. He took her to the area where Khushi had fallen into his arms the first time they met. Arnav gently put Khushi down and asked her if she remembered the place. She looked around and nodded with a shy smile.
‘Khushi, when we were coming here early today, I was afraid that all those memories which used to haunt me night and day for so many years, would return if I visited this place. I was not ready to come here. But, Aarav was so eager, that I couldn’t refuse. Khushi, as I was walking around the house, I remembered all the happy memories that I had spent here. So many memories which were dear to me came back to me. Memories of that fateful day also were there, but it didn’t hurt as much as it used to. And then, when I came here, I remembered our first meeting. That was the day you had entered my life and my thoughts. That moment became the biggest memory of my life. And I will never ever forget that. Happy Anniversary Khushi, exactly two years back on this day I found my life, you.’
He handed over a gift box to her. As soon as she opened it, she found a beautiful pearl set ‘ a necklace and a set of danglers. Those pearls brought back memories of that day and she smiled. She hugged her Arnavji affectionately. Arnav continued, ‘Thank you for coming into my life, Khushi’. ‘You mean falling?’ giggled Khushi. Arnav smirked, ‘Of course, and you are an expert in falling’. ‘And you in holding me, like always’, smiled Khushi. ‘Yes hamesha’ agreed Arnav.
Still hugging, Arnav gestured her to look up at the sky. As Khushi looked up, she saw fireworks adorn the beautiful night sky. ‘Oh, Arnavji, this is so beautiful, thank you’, that was the reaction of an exhilarated Khushi. Arnav was entranced as he kept looking at Khushi who was smiling and giggling away. He was finally at peace.

Sameera banke ... Sanaya Irani Birthday poem

Sameera banke Sanaya humko mili
Chhanchhan ki Gunjan se Khushi mili
Paro ko pyaar se duniya ne apnaya
Khilkhilati phir bankar aayi Myrah
Jaise bhi ho libaas, usey apna banaya
Apne muskaan se humko lubhaya
Yun hi khilta rahe aapka chehra
Safalta ka rang ho, aur bhi gehra
Janamdin ho aapka sabse nirala
Dua ye nikalti hai dil se hamare

Translation:

We got Sanaya when she became Sameera
From the humming(Gunjan) of the anklet's sound(Chhanchhan) we got happiness(Khushi)
The world accepted Paro with love
Then she came as the bubbly Myrah
Whatever was the costume, you made it yours
You awed us with your smile
May your face always glow
May the colour of your success, become more deep
May your birthday be unique
A wish that comes from the heart

ASR and Barun - Barun Sobti poem - 2014

This was posted on the Baruns Bday Poetry Slam, an event by Team Sobtians on facebook, for celebrating Barun Sobti's birthday in 2014

Full of anger was ASR, Barun is not
ASR wore suits, Barun does not
Full of smiles is Barun, ASR is not
Barun loves to eat, ASR does not

ASR has fans worldwide over
Barun has fans worldwide over
How did this happen, when they are poles apart?
What makes them both so dear to the heart?

ASR loves his family, so does Barun
ASR is humble, so is Barun
Mad about his lady love is ASR
Barun is as crazy for his better half

ASR in a Diwali cut or Barun in curly locks
It's the same steely gaze where fans get blocked
ASR getting worried, or Barun getting anxious
It's the same tender heart that melts on the spot

Hats off to ASR and hats off to Barun
Both are same whose birthday song we croon
Celebrating the rise of a wonder man
Wishing happy 30's to bitwa Barun

Half of your three decades - Barun Sobti poem - 2014

This was posted on the Baruns Bday Poetry Slam, an event by Team Sobtians on facebook, for celebrating Barun Sobti's birthday in 2014

Half of your three decades
You strived and worked hard
Now outpouring are accolades
You deserve every part

As you enter a new decade
The magical thirties
We wait for your movie parade
Where you prosper and succeed

Too long you have struggled
Now it's time for the results to bear
The fact about your talent is still muffled
Now it's time to explode and tear

May this new year bring in a sea change
May this new decade show you in every range
Angry, romantic, serious and naughty
May the world realize the talent of Barun Sobti

Wishing you a birthday with dear ones
Who stick with you forever
May you reach great heights
Without losing your humble side ever

From all fans and well wishers
Wishing you a Happy Birthday
May you have a joyous time
While entering the new decade

Baba ke darshan - Barun Sobti poem - 2014

This was posted on the Baruns Bday Poetry Slam, an event by Team Sobtians on facebook, for celebrating Barun Sobti's birthday in 2014

Another hatke one. Dedicated to the immense love of all Barun's fangirls.

Ek muddat ke baad mili Baba Barundas ke darshan
Pulkit ho uthi har ek Sobtian
Gaane lagi Baba ke birthday bhajan
Jagat bhar mein jhoom uthe Hotwa ke jogan

अर्थार्त, meaning ...

After a while got the sighting of Baba Barundas
Overjoyed is every Sobtian
Started singing Baba's birthday chants
All over the world are swaying Hotwa's followers

Hichki - Barun Sobti poem - 2014

This was posted on the Baruns Bday Poetry Slam, an event by Team Sobtians on facebook, for celebrating Barun Sobti's birthday in 2014

A phadoo one

बोले तो, translation izz

Morning evening Salman gets hiccups
He did not understand, who was thinking of him
Salman's got trouble, doesn't know who's torturing
Barun's fans are swearing on Salman bhai's name

Barun Sobti birthday poem - 2013

Koyi Meera baney, Radha baney, ye hai prem unka
Koyi Yashoda baney, Subhadra baney, ye hai mamta unka
Mamta bhi to hai prem ka ek roop
Parde par dekhenge aapke kayi swaroop
Kaamna yehi hai hum sabki
Yash aur keerti mein ho aapki unnati
Translation:
Some become Meera, some Radha, it is their love
Some become Yashoda, some Subhadra, it is their affection
Affection is also a form of love
On screen we will see you in many forms
The wish we all have is
that there is a rise in your reputation and fame

Barun Sobti birthday poem 2013 - IF thread

This poem was posted on IF's Barun Sobti birthday thread in 2013

An actor par excellence, looked on with reverence
Cherished among friends, heartthrob of millions
A man who rewrote TV history
This is a man called Barun Sobti

Drugged doctor, goofy guy, an angry man
Every role he performs with such elan
How does he do it, it is a mystery
That is the talent of Barun Sobti

Smirks, winks, angry looks
And a voice to match those intense looks
With expressive eyes that tell the whole story
That is the charm of Barun Sobti

Fans of all ages shower their love
From below twenty to fifty above
He treats everyone with great chivalry
That's how humble is Barun Sobti

May he continue to remain in their hearts forever
May he be successful in every endeavour
A birthday wish, very joyous and happy
To the one and only Barun Sobti

IPKKND 3rd Anniversary Poem

Poem posted on IF's IPKKND 3rd Anniversary thread

For eighteen months ran the show
Eighteen months since we saw it go
Three years since it got us tied
Raaba ve on, we are still stupefied

It happens when a show shuts down
The craze diminishes, everybody moves on
But IPK has reversed the trend
The fan base has only widened

What's the reason?, while some analyse
Watching again and again, becomes the premise
As dubbed ones, remakes and reruns thrive
They've helped to keep the show alive

So dupattas fly, while the gazes continue
A mesmerising hi, which still sounds new
Sighs, laughs and cries, we get even now
In an abyss of love, we happily fall down

Jo pehle hua na, ab hone laga hai
Nuttier and nuttier, dil hone laga hai
On this third anniversary we need not be sane
So let's rock and party, while going dhak dhak again

Move on?

Feelings outpouring in poetic form.

It has been a while since the show ended. Everyone from the team has moved on to different ventures. Most viewers have moved on to other shows, moved on with their lives, studies, jobs, etc. But many are still here, keeping IPK alive in their hearts, watching and re-watching, relishing and reveling in its magic, getting inspired, learning and teaching the good things, getting enthralled with the unavoidable chemistry. In short, basking in the golden sun shine that IPK continues to reflect.

Moving on isn't something that I can deliberately do, especially if it is about IPK. If it has to happen, I would like to let it happen naturally, with time. Till then, I am here, in this house full of crazy IPK people, just like me. And enjoy and be contended that such a beauty came into our lives that moved every inch of our body and soul. Move on? Nah ...

This poem is a reflection of the feelings of my friends outpouring on the Blast from the Past thread.  An ode to the show that has earned a permanent place in the hearts of all viewers, of those who have left and of those who haven't.

Move on?

Move on?

Wo kehte hain ke ab humey aage badhna hoga
Yaadon ke bhanwar se nikalna hoga
Donon chal pade hain haathon mein haath liye
To kya humey bhi ab yahaan se chale jaana hoga?

Wo dupatte ke sang lehrata be-intehaa pyaar
What the ki goonj ho ya tum theek ho ki pukaar
Baat karne ka bahana, hamesha unka ladna hota
Dil ko behalate in palon se kya ab ubharna hoga?

Na kam huyi chahat, na kam hua deewanapan
Isee bahane mila doston ka apnapan
Ab bhi mayoos chehre pe jo muskaan le aata
Kyun aisi anmol ratna se door jaana hoga?

Ghar wo hai, jahaan apne rehte hain, paraye nahin
Jazbaat apne dil ke hain, begaane nahin
Ye jazbaat jab tak hamare dil mein kaayam hoga
Iss ghar mein tab tak humey rehna hoga

Translation:

They say that now we have to move on
Should leave from this twister of memories
Both have left walking hand in hand
So should I too leave from here?

That limitless love, flying with the dupatta
The echo of What the or the call of tum theek ho
An excuse to talk would always be their fights
Do I have to rise from these heart soothing moments?

The love hasn't come down nor has the craziness
On this pretext, got a belonging feeling from friends
The one that still brings forth a smile on a depressed face
Why should I go far from such a priceless gem?

Home is where near and dear ones live, not strangers
The emotions are of my heart not that of outsiders'
As long as these feelings sustain in my heart
I will have to stay in this house till then.

Hamare Arnav aur Khushi

Hindi poem posted on IF's IPKKND 2nd Anniversary Thread...

Hamare Arnav aur Khushi

Ghar ke chotey pardey par, bani ek prem kahani
Is kahani ki huyi saari duniya diwaani
In donon ki chavi, sab ke man mein basi
Aise thay hamare Arnav aur Khushi

Aise thay hamare Arnav aur Khushi

Sapne huye poore, woh bani unki dulhan
Kayee mushkilon ke baad hua inka milan
Saazishein bahut huyi, inka pyaar chadha na bali
Aise thay hamare Arnav aur Khushi

Mahiney beet gaye, par inhe koyi na bhoola
Bas yehi baat, har ek ka dil bola
Na pehle thi aisi jodi, na phir hogi kabhi
Aise hain hamare Arnav aur Khushi
Translation:
On the small screen at home, there was a love story
The whole world became crazy for this story
Both of their reflections was in everyone's heart
This is how they were, our Arnav and Khushi

There was no dearth of conflict, nor of emotions
Their every meeting was full of sparks
The sparks were sometimes of hate and sometimes intoxicated
This is how they were, our Arnav and Khushi

The dreams were fulfilled, she became his bride
After many difficulties their unity took place
There were many conspiracies, but their love was not sacrificed
This is how they were, our Arnav and Khushi

It has been months, but no one forgot them
Only one thing, every heart said
There was never such a couple, nor will be there again
This is how they are, our Arnav and Khushi

Poem on IPK's Second Anniversary

Introductory poem in English posted on IF's IPKKND 2nd Anniversary Thread...

Poem on IPK's Second Anniversary

We are here to celebrate IPK's second anniversary
A time to be nostalgic, but also a time to be merry
FFs, SSs, OSs of the show, can fill up a mini library
A show that gave us, our very own Tom and Jerry

The entry in a chopper became the best entry ever
He entered into a million hearts to stay there forever
The girl on a two-wheeler, dressed in her best attire
Entered into the man's heart, which was a big ball of fire

Sparks flew, tempers blew and challenges were made
Don't want to meet or talk, to each other they said
Like elastic, the more they pulled, the more they got closer
Like a magnet, every time, they kept bumping into each other

Finally they overcame, their egos and their fights
They confessed that on each other, they always had rights
Arnav and Khushi are names that are taken in one breath
Together for a life long journey, these two are set

This was no ordinary love story, told in an ordinary manner
This was a deep-rooted tale, to unite two people forever
The show created such a craze, the numbers on everyone's fingertips
Everything had a count, from almosts and kisses, to falls and lifts

For many, this show has proved to be a boon
A show that's called 'Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon?'

IPK and Doraemon

Ever since, IPK closed down, we hear viewers talk about how things in their daily life keep reminding them about IPK. That is the impact of IPK. From movies to songs, from bluetooth to ordinary stationary items, from dupattas to sarees, just about anything brings back memories of the show. But, what are the chances that a famous Japanese cartoon show which is shown in India, dubbed in Hindi can remind you of IPK on a daily basis.

Unimaginable right. But, that is true. Here are some examples.

  • Often, we hear Nobita say, 'Ye kitna sundar hai' or 'Ye kitna achcha hai', exactly the same way Khushi says in the show so many times.
  • 'Tum theek ho' used so regularly in IPK, is also used quite regularly in Doraemon too.
  • In one episode, Nobita is using a gadget of Doraemon and says 'Jo tum dekhte ho, wo main dekhta hoon.' Just similar to the famous Holi dialogue of Arnav, 'Jo tum mehsoos karti ho, jo main mehsoos karta hoon.'
  • In the same episode mentioned above, Shizuka tells Nobita, 'Tum kitne ajeeb ho'. A dialogue told about a million times to each other by Arnav and Khushi.
  • A recently shown Doraemon movie had Sapnon ki Duniya as its basic theme. Sapnon ki duniya (SKD) was one of the elements of IPK, made popular by the dialogue, 'Sapnon ki duniya mein hi rehna theek hai Lavanyaji, asli duniya mein to dil tut te hain.'
All these may just be coincidences, because all these dialogues are regular everyday ones. But still, with so many resemblances, one often wonders if there is a link between the two shows. Either, someone from IPK is also in the dubbing team of the cartoon show, or, someone in the dubbing department of Doraemon is a huge fan of IPK. Either way, Doraemon continues to excel in its job, of constantly taking me back to IPKland.

Valentine's Day Poem for Arshi

Disclaimer: Please do not copy my work anywhere. If you do, please give credit.

On the occasion of Valentine's Day, I wrote the following keeping Arnav and Khushi (Arshi), the characters in the show 'Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon' in mind.

Ek chaah thi kuch kehne ki, ek hasrat thi kuch sunne ki,

Nafrat ka sama chaa gaya, pyaar kahin dabkar reh gaya,

Is nafrat ko dhalne mein lage kayee din,

aise mein bhi donon rehnaa paaye ek duje ke bin,

Aakhir pyaar nafrat par bhaari pad gaya, donon par pyaar ka jaadu chal gaya,

To phir aagaya lo din pyaar ka, dil phirse armaanon se hai bhara,

Ab rehti hai hoton pe inke hasee,

Hamesha ke liye ek hogaye Arnav aur Khushi

Translation

Here comes the day of love, heart full of desires
Such a day had come earlier too, heart was full of desires then too,
A want to say something, a wish to hear something,
It was a day to express love, to confess the state of heart,
But the enemy made such a strike, the heart broke into thousand pieces,
Hate was there everywhere, love got suppressed somewhere,
It took many days for the hate to descend,
even then they couldn't stay without each other,
Finally love overcame hate, both were surrounded by the magic of love.
So, here again comes the day of love, heart is again full of desires
Now there is always a smile on their lips,
Forever they became one, Arnav and Khushi.

Welcome

Hello friends,

First of all,  I would like to thank the Almighty for giving me the power to write and for showering me with so much love.

All my writings in this blog are related to the Hindi show 'Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon' (IPKKND), which was telecasted on Star Plus. I am going to post my works from the 'Blast from the past' thread on IF here. Along with that, I will also be writing down my thoughts about the show in general.
My writings include so called poems which are just lines that I am able to rhyme. They are actually reflections of some of the reviews that the lovely ladies on the above thread have made. Thus, they have influenced me in my work.

Please do leave your comments. Thank you for reading.
